FAQ Motorola Personal unlocking

Yes, unlocking a phone via IMEI is permanent. Our unlocking method is the only method officially recognized and recommended by Motorola and Personal.

Once you unlock your Motorola with doctorSIM your cell phone will be unlocked forever.

No, because the instructions on how to insert the unlock code are the same for all Motorola models. The only difference is the unlock code for your particular phone which is based on its unique IMEI number. This number can be obtained by typing *#06# on the dial screen.

Although you do not need to know the model of your Motorola to unlock it, if you need that information for any other reason, for example you want to sell the cell phone online, you can find out quickly by using our identify phone model check.

Our Standard Service is a low-cost unlocking service which scans local databases for an unlock code for your Motorola cell phone.

If your unlock code is unavailable locally, we will refund your money so you can submit your request using our Premium Service. Our Premium Service scans databases located worldwide guaranteeing the availability of your unlock code.

Yes, we can unlock blacklisted phones. Unfortunately, your Motorola won't work properly in Argentina while on the blacklist even if it is unlocked. It may work in another country, but there is no guarantee that it will.

You will need to pay off all your pending bills and then contact Personal to have them remove your phone from the blacklist before you can use it on the network of your choice.

The Subsidy Password is Motorola's term for the unlock code.

If the cell phone doesn't unlock after you've entered the unlock code, restore it to factory settings, then when it informs you that it is subsidy locked leave it turned on for at least 10 hours. After this time, your phone should prompt for the unlock code.

Remove and then reinsert the cell phone's battery. Wait at least 60 minutes before typing the unlock code when prompted.

If the error persists, reply to the e-mail we sent you with the unlocking instructions with a photograph or screenshot displaying the IMEI number of the phone (type *#06# on the keypad to obtain it).

Also, check that your Motorola hasn’t been rooted or modified at some point in the past. If the software has been modified, we recommend restoring it to factory settings so it responds correctly to the unlocking instructions.

Check that your Motorola recognizes the SIM card inserted and verify that the phone prompts for the SIM card’s PIN. If your phone doesn’t prompt for this security number it means the phone is not recognizing the SIM card and why it isn't prompting for the unlock code either. Make sure the SIM card is correctly inserted.

If that doesn’t solve the issue, we recommend inserting a different SIM card to rule out the possibility that the first SIM card is defective.

If, on the other hand, your SIM card is recognized but doesn’t prompt for the unlock code:

-Check the phone works with the new SIM card inserted. If so, your Motorola is unlocked.

-We recommend restoring the phone to its factory settings. This process eliminates possible errors preventing the phone from prompting for the unlock code. You can find the option to restore to factory settings under Settings on the phone’s menu.

Finally, if having tried all of the checks above and the phone still doesn’t prompt for the unlock code, it means your Motorola cannot be unlocked via IMEI. If you have any questions and/or doubts, contact doctorSIM's customer service.
