Most cell phones are unlocked by inserting an unlock code, however, some Samsung Galaxy smartphones locked to T-Mobile do not prompt for the unlock code. This could be because the phone has the Device Unlock App installed. Prior to submitting your request, check under the Applications icon to see if your cell phone has this device pre-installed by the network. If so, ONLY select our Device Unlock App Service to unlock your Samsung phone.

FAQ Samsung T-Mobile cell phone unlocking

There are two ways to unlock a Samsung from T-Mobile, with only one of the two options applicable depending on what type of phone you have:

1) By typing an unlock code.
2) Using the Device Unlock App.

To find out which unlocking service you need to select to unlock your Samsung, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to perform the following checks BEFORE making your request:

Does the phone prompt for the unlock code when you insert a SIM card from a network different to the original? If it does, your Samsung can be unlocked from T-Mobile by inserting an unlock code. Select either our Standard or Premium Service.

If your phone doesn't prompt for the unlock code after inserting a non-compatible SIM card, open the Applications icon on your phone to see if T-Mobile has pre-installed the Device Unlock App. If they have, select our Device Unlock App Service to unlock your Samsung.

Contact our customer support team for assistance prior to submitting your request if your cell phone neither prompts for the unlock code nor has the Device Unlock App.

Select our Standard Service if your Samsung is no longer under a fixed-term contract with T-Mobile and has no outstanding payments.

If your cell phone has received technical support from Samsung, hasn’t been activated, is pre-pay or under contract select our Premium Service directly.

You will also be given a Defreeze Code for free and which is necessary if you get a “Phone freeze” message. Samsung phones have a maximum number of unlocking attempts (ranging between 3 and 5 depending on the model) and when these attempts are exhausted, the phone will ‘freeze’ and will not accept the unlock code even if it is valid.

If you are unsure of the current status of your Samsung phone, select our Standard Service or contact our customer support team for assistance.

We will issue you a full refund if we are unable to unlock your Samsung with either unlocking service.

If you select the incorrect unlocking service we won't be able to unlock your cell phone. Nor will we be able to issue you a refund because the unlocking process is fully automated incurring a cost to doctorSIM.

You will need to resubmit your request selecting the correct service.
